- Missing the 3-foot-from-basin-edge receptacle requirement — NEC 210.52(D). A vanity with all outlets inside drawers or medicine cabinets still needs to verify a receptacle within 3 feet of each basin edge — usually satisfied by the medicine-cabinet interior duplex, but confirm at design.
- Face-up outlets in a countertop — Prohibited by NEC 406.9(C). Any pop-up or in-counter device must be a listed, non-face-up product (Mockett PCS series qualifies; a random pop-up ordered from a home center may not).
Electrician & Cabinet-Shop Vetting Checklist
Before signing a contract:
- Request photos of at least three completed 2026 Westchester baths with Docking Drawer and/or Trufig installs — not a stock supplier photo.
- Confirm the cabinet shop has received the Docking Drawer cabinet-shop cut sheet and has built the drawer with a metal box and correct interior clear height.
- Confirm the electrician will run separate 20-amp home runs for vanity receptacles, lighting, exhaust fan, and heated floor — no shared circuits.
- Confirm the GFCI protection strategy on paper (breaker vs. device) and that it matches the AHJ's preference for your municipality.
- Confirm the rough-in heights on the shop drawing for every device — Docking Drawer junction box, medicine-cabinet interior duplex, adorne track, Trufig, sconce boxes.
- Confirm the tile setter's Trufig experience if a flush-mount is specified.
- Confirm the sub-panel capacity if the bath spec includes steam, sauna, heated floor, and heated towel warmer — an existing 100A service in a 1962 Westchester ranch will not carry the load.
